Property Description:

Zephyr Hill was built high on Mount du Cap at the top of its one acre plot to give the best views of the Atlantic; South down the island; over the golf course; and to the Caribbean. It is light and airy, having big double glass doors with louvers on either side, which traditionally allow the tropical breezes through the house – which is why we chose the name. Because of the steep hillside, it is built on two levels with the main house at the top and the swimming pool, flanked by the two guest suites (together with their own parking area) on the lower level.

The lovely gardens are thick with bougainvillea, palms, bananas, calabash, mango and citrus trees, papaya and flowering shrubs right up to the house.

At the top of the driveway are a car-port and separate garage with workshop, and room for several cars to be parked outside the house.

One enters the house either through double doors leading to the very spacious open-plan entertaining area, or through a separate entrance to the kitchen.

The sitting/dining room is a light and airy area with a large French doors opening on to the verandah with Georgian plantation style skylights above. Through the house, and at the end of the verandah outside, is the garden room/pavilion, which is a delightful area for outdoor sitting/eating/entertaining, with dimmer lighting. Off the sitting room is a small office for computer use and the owners’ walk-in lock-up for safe storage.

 

The spacious kitchen has all one could ask for, including an island unit with the gas hub. The utility rooms are to the rear, nicely out of sight.

Upstairs are the two spacious main bedroom suites, each with their own outside terrace – one with Atlantic view and the other to the Caribbean Sea – and walk-in closets. The good sized bathrooms both have twin basins, bath tubs and large showers.

Down the double staircase from the verandah is the Swimming Pool with its 40’ Roman pool, ample space for sunbeds, shade provided by a verandah which has a bar with its own small kitchen with sink, and fridge.

On each side of the pool are identical guest suites, with bedroom, shower room and walk-in closets, and with French doors leading out to their individual small patios.

The house is very well ventilated by the louvres, which are usually sufficient to keep each room cool with the aid of the fans which are also in each room. However, each bedroom is also equipped with air-conditioning units. All the louvres are covered with mosquito netting on the outside.

 

The property is fully furnished and equipped. The dining table and chairs, dresser, outside tables, coffee and television tables were all custom made in St. Lucia from local white cedar wood. The four poster beds were also locally made as are the wonderfully comfortable mattresses; and the rush-seated chairs from the Choiseul area speak for themselves.

The house extends in all to just over 6,300 sq. ft. including the guest suites.

The property is served with mains electricity, telephone, and CATV. In addition to the regular main piped water supply, there are three underground water tanks with a total capacity of 50,000 gallons. Sewage disposal is by a private septic tank.
